2015 TSOGC Scholarship Winners

Six Area Students Receive Tri-State Oil & Gas Scholarships

The Tri-State Oil & Gas Convention (TSOGC) Scholarship Committee is please to announce six area students have been chosen to each receive a $1,500 scholarship.  The program was created this past spring and benefits from the proceeds of the annual Tri-State Oil & Gas Convention.  This year's convention will be August 6th at the Woodward Convention Center.

Scholarship Program Chairman, Julie Holloway, indicated that scholarship applications and information were sent to area high schools counselors last spring.  "We were very pleased with the number of applications we received from throughout the Tri-State area," Holloway said.  "The selection committee made up of both TSOGC committee members and other area residents, spent several hours combing through the applications to make the selections."

The $1,500 scholarships have been awarded to Taylor Frech from Woodward High School, Bailey Poer from Mooreland High School, Kolby Slater from Alva High School and Michael Cano from Forgan High School.  Each scholarship award will be distributed directly to the student's post-secondary education facility once they have been accepted and enrolled.

The scholarship awards will be presented during the 3rd Annual Bobby Joe Cudd Legacy Awards Dinner held in conjunction with the Tri-State Oil & Gas Convention on August 5th, 2015.  Both events are a tribute to the late Bobby Joe Cudd.  Cudd was a generous businessman whose integrity, humility and work ethic were a role model for many in and out of the oil and gas industry.  In addition to the scholarship awards, three area men and one woman will be presented with a Bobby Joe Cudd Legacy Award recognizing their lifetime contributions to the oil and gas industry in the Tri-State area.

Oil and gas have long been catalysts in the development of the Tri-State area.  These industries have played a major role in the growth and sustainability of our region.  The Tri-State Oil & Gas Convention provides a venue for companies within the Tri-State area to showcase their products and services and provides an informative array of speakers and panel discussions centered on topics of interest to the industries.  The proceeds from the convention have been designated as a means to fund the newly created scholarship program.  It is the committee's desires to help students within our region obtain their educational and career goals through post-secondary education.

Applications for the scholarship will be available each spring from area high school counselors or through the TSOGC committee.
